We are delighted to announce that this year's festival is expanding and takes place in Lambeth, Southwark and Hackney with more boroughs to be confirmed.

The festival takes place on two dates this year with an early event on World Mental Health Day - 10th October and the main festival taking place from 8th to 15th November.

Black Asian and Minority ethnic people's stories are rarely told. Our shared stories are critical to our wellbeing. We want you to participate in the festival and this year, and we are asking people, like you, to tell us your own stories on mental wellbeing. We want to know your mental health experiences and how you have overcome life's challenges.

We'll film you, or advise you how to shoot your story on your smart phone. Your story is very important and will help to inspire others and give them hope. It could even save lives! This project will take place in August and early September. All selected participants will be paid a £50 thank-you sum. The filmed testimonials will be shared on the Brixton Reel website.

This year Brixton Reel is newly supported by Thrive LDN who have issued a press release with a quote from the Mayor of London - click here to read.

We are particularly looking to hear from people of African-Caribbean, South Asian (India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh), Portuguese speakers, Latin American Spanish speakers, Black and Asian LGBTQ+ people. We are also very keen to hear the stories of young people (16-26 years old). You don't have to speak English as a first language and you can tell your story in your language.
